Cerec Sirona Crowns, Onlays and Inlays
What are Crown, Onlays and Inlays?
A crown or onlay is a protective cap placed over the surface of a tooth that is badly broken down, heavily filled or has had root canal treatment. An inlay is like a dental filling made of ceramic or composite resin, instead of the usual amalgam.
Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Milling (CAD/CAM) and refers to the technology used to fabricate a crown using intraoral scans and milling. The need for taking messy dental impressions as well as the wait of about a week to receive your crown is eliminated. A CAD/CAM crown is made by a 3D intraoral scan, tooth preparation and then milling of the crown directly within the clinic. You will be able to receive your crown on the same day or within 2 days (in special cases).
